Heal from Trauma

The EMDR Process

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that supports the processing of distressing experiences that may continue to affect how you feel, think, and respond in the present. This can include trauma, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, or experiences that feel unresolved.

At times, the nervous system does not fully process difficult events. EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess these experiences so they become less activating and no longer feel “stuck.”

EMDR follows a structured and paced approach. The focus is not on reliving experiences, but on helping your system process them in a way that feels manageable and contained.

Areas EMDR Can Support

Trauma and complex trauma

Anxiety and panic

Depression

Intrusive or distressing memories

Negative self-beliefs

Grief and loss

A Trauma-Informed Approach

This work is collaborative and paced carefully. You are not required to go into detail about your experiences unless you choose to. The focus is on supporting your nervous system to process safely, while maintaining a sense of control throughout.

Starting Therapy

If you are considering EMDR, we can discuss whether it is an appropriate fit based on your goals and current needs. This approach is integrated within a broader, trauma-informed framework that may also include elements of CBT, DBT, ACT, and other modalities as appropriate.

  • “EMDR supports the brain’s natural capacity to process and integrate distressing experiences.”
